The West Coast Junior Lacrosse League was established on the lower Mainland in the 1980's. The WCJLL consisted of six teams; currently the WCJLL made up of the Burnaby Lakers, Coquitlam Adanacs Gold, Coquitlam Adanacs Purple, Delta Islanders, Langley Warriors, New Westminster Salmonbellies, North Shore Indians, Port Coquitlam Saints, Port Moody Thunder, Ridge Meadows Burrards, South Fraser Riptide and the Valley Sturgeon.
During the league's tenure; some teams have come and gone, some have changed cities/municipalities, nicknames, logos, and colours but the WCJLL has continued with the hard work and determination of many people.
The growth of lacrosse on the lower Mainland is a direct result of all minor lacrosse associations (Abbotsford Warriors, Burnaby Lakers, Chilliwack Mustangs, Coquitlam Adanacs, Delta Islanders, Langley Thunder, Mission Sasquatch, New Westminster Salmonbellies, North Shore Minor Lacrosse, Port Coquitlam Saints, Port Moody Thunder, Richmond Roadrunners, Ridge Meadows Burrards, Semiahmoo Rock, Sunshine Coast Rapids, Surrey Rebels and the Vancouver Minor Lacrosse) working together to promote and foster Canada's National summer sport.
